Catherine Astrid Salome Freeman OAM is an Aboriginal Australian former sprinter, who specialised in the 400 metres event. Her personal best of 48.63 seconds currently ranks her as the ninth-fastest woman of all time, set while finishing second to Marie-José Pérec’s number-four time at the 1996 Olympics. She famously won the 400m final at the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
One shoe is personally signed by Cathy. The frame is approx 44 x 57cm.
This item was purchased at a charity auction held in Canberra, for the Marlene Harrison-Gray Memorial Trust (3 March 2002 – $1,550).
